Okay, well a long time ago (not that long, but before all of us were born)There was the Meji era. And in this era there was a guy, and his name was Himura Kenshin, the wandering Rurounin.
One day,he finds this girlie named Kamiya Kaoru. He helps her with a problem, and ends up staying at her empty dojo. The rest is history, along with other people such as Myouji Yahiko and Sagara Sanosuke and Takani Megumi following along for the ride, becomeing the "Kenshingumi".
You see, 10 years before, the biggy government Ishin, was in power, and samurai were good people. There was an awsome group and they were called The Hitokiri's. The one that was the best was Hitokiri Battousai. His style of fighting was the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu, taught to him by Seijuro Hiko. But, in the end he turned good and protected only from then on, never wanting to kill again.
All Rurouni Kenshin characters go through different conflicts and dramas throughout the series. Each character has their own (most of the time, pathetic) past of some sort.
Rurouni Kenshin is a good mix of fighting, drama, and humor. Unlike with some animes I know, Rurouni Kenshin knows when comedy is okay, and knows how to creat drama scenes that would actually, you know, happen. (I'm sure a lot of you think Kaoru overreacted-especially in the goodbye episodes-actually,her reaction was quite normal.)The fighting is really great, and the jumping 10 feet in the air and jumping UP a clif with a girl in your arms is all a part of this good anime.
